DC Metro Strikes Again
Happy Friday everyone! Once again, like the last and the time before, the Washington, DC Metro has failed to deliver. Everyone was herded off of the Dupont Metro station tram and told that the train was not functioning and operating…as it then whizzed past gaping onlookers to the next station. Quite confuzzling.
In news today, Mister Michael Hecka Huckabee seems to be the gaining some lead in Iowa because he’s rallying on the emblem that he’s the only “true conservative.” Now this week we saw a different idea of a “true conservative” with the christening of Guiliani by Robertson. So my question now is: What the hell does it mean to be conservative? It was always hard to define what the hell being “liberal” or “progressive” meant but there was always a set niche of people we could easily label as “conservative” and those were the religious right.
You want to know what my issue is? This population who are religious and consider themselves Christian are being constantly pigeoned holed as “conservative” and taken for a ride by the media, political groups, and the 700 fricken’ club. If everyone backed off for a moment and let them decide for themselves what their true issues are, instead of burning rainbow flags on their lawns, they might have a different, if not more differentiated, laundry list of issues. We don’t even take into account religious groups of other minorities. It’s always the white Christian families who seem to have the scepter of power in the realm of “Value Voting.” It’s a crock of bullshit. The church plays a huge role in the African American community and just as much of a role in the 1st generation Asian American community.
Nothing pisses me off more than an ignorant “christian fundamentalist” hick who yells “fag” and passes out pictures of dead baby fetuses. It seems the media goes on a field day when they kind of stuff shit hits the fan. But c’mon people! I’m sure there’s also ignorant asian “christian fundamentalists” who are yelling the same thing and passing out the same literature….but in Chinese. Give everyone a chance!
