Some Korean Love Makin’, Heart Breakin’, Soul Shakin’ Love…ur Identity I mean
Another Asian-American piece of art meant to give a “Fresh Look at Korean-American Issues,” which in this case, is gang warfare and violence. Shit, the kind of stuff that happens at church. What the heck? Why do we have to take every piece of work done by an Asian American or portraying Asian Americans (or Koreans) and then flip it all into some identity defining, soul searching, community building event? Why can’t it be for what it is…entertainment. I’m sure there are pieces of work that explores the Asian identity but seriously people, must we pick up everything we see in the street and put it in our mouths?
In other news….
- New Jersey does it right – as always. Senator Lautenberg and Senator Menendez are two of the eight Democrats who refuse go give the Republicans their watered down bowl of SCHIPs. damn straight motherfu*ka.
- On the Eastern European front: Saakashvili is marching Georgia back down to authoritarianism. A post Soviet state that was once the darling child of Western hopes of democracy in Eastern Europe turned out to be just a wet dream. Saakashvili isn’t making any friends either, he’s been hating on the Russian bear as well…don’t be hatin’ on Russia when you’re doing the same damn thing. Zourabichvili, an opponent of Saakashvili said it the best:
“At least everybody knows what Putin is and nobody is mistaken about Putin.”
- North and South Korea have agreed to open up a railway line between the two countries as well as make progress to officially declare that they’re not at war – really, who would have known. Let’s hope Kim Jong Il doesn’t do one of this run-away-bride reactions where he freaks out because he’s in too deep, kicks everyone out, and restarts the nuclear program. What a drama queen.
- Giuliani, as I’m sure we all know, is scum.
