Asian Korean American
After graduating college, beginning my job here in DC, and living in Georgetown (the latter being the most influential), I’ve tapped into my Asian-American side. I’m becoming more and more aware that I am…well…Asian/Korean (circle one) American. It’s not a bad realization. I mean I knew it all along. But recently something has happened. Something has brought out the angry black lady in me…or shall we say the angry-yellow-lady-with-perms-and-the-shot-gun-in-her-convenient-store-behind-the-bullet-proof-glass in me.
yes i am angry. but not angry that I’ll flip over some trash cans and break some car windows. No. It’s the kind of angry that brings the “A” word…yes: Activism. And where better to practice the art of activism than in the city of Washington, DC?
So now I can add on top of my list of turn-on’s: People of Color in Power (well, then again, not those who got there on their own merits and not on cronism and their husband or wife).
What’s also pretty cool is if you google “Asian American Activism” my blog actually pops up on the first page! I’m getting that many hits. thank you poeple!
Watch out DC – here I come.
