i am back.
good morning everyone and happy tuesday. today i am officially acknolwedged by the US government as a lobbyist. how tight is that?
in today’s news:
-
GOP hopefuls are in Michigan to repair much of what’s left of the auto industry. now as a once resident of michigan, i’ve got to say….since when was Romney’s father the governor of michigan? i never knew that and never heard of it. by what most michiganders tell me, he was a pretty crappy governor.
-
Hulk Hogan may be gay *GASP*. a bunch of macho men are in a room crying right now. well, they’ll be more distraught to learn that wrestling isn’t actually real - SAY IT AIN’T SO! Now i’m not an avid reader of the GLOBE, but i just thought it a funny notion that one of the more masculine symbols of male identity in America ends up as a fruit cake.

its always about money. while republicans scramble to raise campaign money on committees run and paid by tax dollars, the DCCC raises nearly double of their republican counter parts. but as we know all too clearly from this presidential primary, money doesn’t mean votes….right? damn. are the primaries still going on?
-
Obama and Hillary called a truce over the word “race” as they did over the word “change” - except this time, Edwards (the white guy for those who forget, didn’t jump into this one).
OK…on the radio i recently heard Sean Kingston’s “Shorty I Can Take You There,” and either i’m just getting old or the lyrics for songs nowadays are fricken’ ridiculous. Here’s a part of the lyrics for those who don’t know:
We can go to the tropics, Sip piña coladas
Shorty I could take you there
Or we can go to the slums, Where killas get hung
Shorty I could take you there
You know I could take ya (I could take ya…)
Shorty I could take you there
…
Baby girl I know it’s rough but come wit me, We can take a trip to the hood
It’s no problem girl it’s my city, I could take you there
Little kid wit guns only 15, Roamin’ the streets up to no good
When gun shots just watch us, run quickly
I could show you where
what the hell? i know nothing of street life so i don’t attempt to understand it nor do i give it any credit of glorifying it by tempting you female companion with an option of either going to jamaica and drinking pina coladas or going to the ghettos and being shot. what does piss me off is that these songs are just another mass produced pop culture piece of bullshit that pays no regard to the real problems of inner city disparities.
imagine having a pop song about a rich boy with obesity whose disconnected parents abuse neglect him. shorty i can take you either to a loving family of the middle class suburbs or shorty i can take you to my dysfunctional family of garish wealth and breakdown of social values. its just not as sexy as guns it would seem.
The Yi Family
